The wine has a bold rich colour. This hints at a more substantial style of Pinot Noir. On the nose, spicy oak gives way to violets and forest floor. The entry is silky. The mid-palate weight of this wine is remarkable. There are baked plums and morello cherries to be discovered. The youthfulness of this wine is revealed by the cocoa powder tannins that develop along with hints of dark chocolate and strawberry. The wine was barrel matured for a period of eleven months and lightly filtered prior to bottling to maintain the wines integrity and delicate Pinot flavour spectrum.
Complex aromas of black berries with undertones of cedar, typical for Jonkershoek. Fresh and lively flavours on the palate followed by firm, dense tannins. The wine will reach its potential with careful cellar aging and benefits from decanting if enjoyed at a young age.
Pale straw like colour with attractive green hues. Bright, tropical aromatics with subtle herbaceous undertones. Refined minerality complementing delicate tropical fruit flavours to result in an elegant palate and a long finish.
The Syrah grapes from the Groenekloof vineyard were handpicked from low yielding bush vines. They produce a medium bodied wine with vibrant colours. The aroma is full of enticing dark fruit with contributing spicy undertones. There are lingering savoury notes in the long finish, accentuated by fine, elegant tannins.
